FAQ's
Do I need to fill the centre of the blocks with concrete?
No. It is recommended to be filled with a free draining aggregate/ gravel around 15-20mm mm in size
How high can we go when building a wall?
With the Modernstone® Retaining Wall Blocks you can build walls up to 2 metres high, however, walls over 1 metre do require specific engineering and certifications in accordance to your areas policies.
How do we put the caps on?
The Modernstone Retaining Wall Blocks have an attached lug on the top of the blocks to lock them in to the next course that is stacked on top which needs to be removed when attaching the caps. To do this you will need a 4" brick bolster and a club hammer and using small but firm taps along the length of the lug it will break off. You may need to clean up any dags with a grinder or the bolster when finished. (See attached picture).
To attach the caps to the wall blocks we recommend using a concrete masonry adhesive that is suitable for outdoors. e.g. masonry liquid nails.
